I can make a difference by helping those who need help.
Being there for those who need someone there.
Being a friend to the friendless.
There will always be the kids that sit by themselves in the back.
All they really want by that is for someone to come back there and ask them to sit with them.
I can't be selfish when someone asks me for help, thinking, "You should have done it yourself."
That's not the way people help people.
Will it really kill my social status and free time to be kind to those shunned by others?
Of course not.
There's nothing wrong with being compassionate.
Be some one's saving grace.
I know there have been days when everything seemed to go wrong, and one little girl helping me pick up fruit loops made my day.
Why can't we all be that little girl?
I can stop to notice someone who looks like they're hurting.
I can talk with them or even just give one encouraging word.
I know it's said all the time, but you really don't know how far it can go.
I need to make sure they feel as though they are the most important person in my world at that moment.
I can make a difference through people.

Rachel: Excellent response to how you can make a difference. Your response is very well written and thought through. And the idea of helping the less fortunate or shunned is so important. We all need to just "Do it!"
You need to enter your essay/poem in the PTA reflections contest.
